Owner Spotlight: Rowan Smith

I’m Rowan Smith, the proud owner of Rowan Smith Mortgage Broker - City Wide Mortgage Services.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I’ve always loved crunching numbers and helping people, so I got into the banking sector with a credit union company. After seven years of gaining valuable experience, I felt that I could provide a higher level of service, so I became an independent mortgage broker in 2006.

Over the past fourteen years, I’ve noticed that the industry has changed dramatically, mostly due to technology. New digital platforms, CRM tools, websites, and the introduction of smartphones have enhanced client interactions and have also made the business competitive.

Consequently, each deal is like a puzzle that needs to be solved. To master the game, you need to find ways of matching clients with the right lender, especially after their bank has already turned them down.

I always deliver what I promise, and as an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my integrity. My mantra is that “If you do what is in your clients’ best interest, they’ll usually do what is in yours.”

I also attribute my success to thinking outside the box and maintaining clear, concise communication with clients, which keeps them in the loop about their file. Besides, I make myself available for clients twelve hours a day.

Knowing that my long hours and hard work directly benefit my clients, and not some large corporate entity, fills me with tremendous satisfaction.

I once assisted a builder client with fourteen properties in various foreclosure stages, which took eighteen loans and two years to get the projects back on track. It was the most challenging deal that I’ve ever worked on but turned out to be emotionally and financially rewarding.

When I’m not securing lenders, I love to restore classic cars, keep myself in excellent shape, play the guitar, do woodwork, and make spirits. I also support causes that help kids that need care.

I’ve enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
